Our Vision
At the heart of ESS is a desire to contribute to the development of young musicians by creating a safe space where everyone is welcome to be themselves and strive for their personal best through Suzuki education. ESS achieves this vision through a passion for teaching and a genuine desire to create meaningful relationships based on trust and respect for diverse skills and experiences.
ESS is unique from other music programs in that it offers both a core Suzuki program, as well as supplemental classes and learning experiences focused on different music styles, techniques, repertoire, and performance opportunities. This diversity creates an enriching and collaborative Suzuki community that welcomes everyone, regardless of musical background, interest or experience.
As a teacher-run organization, ESS embraces both experienced and new teachers looking to participate in a supportive and collaborative Suzuki community. As lifelong learners, ESS teachers engage in professional development through SAA teacher training and peer-to-peer training through mentorship, shared teaching resources and experiential learning opportunities. ESS teachers also share a curiosity for how the Suzuki approach can best be taught in a contemporary context, and as such, welcome new perspectives, experiences, methods and ideas, and are responsive to the needs of students, parents and fellow teachers.
“Our purpose does not lie in a movement to create professional musicians, but to create persons of a beautiful mind and fine ability. We engage in human education through music so that children will grow with beautiful and high sensitivity through an unparalleled, uniquely musical approach.”
– Shinichi Suzuki
