Edmonton Suzuki Strings (ESS) is a coalition of independent Suzuki string instructors/teachers (violin and viola instructors) who work together to create an exceptional learning environment for students and their families by offering:
Core Suzuki program:
- Group lessons for all levels of violin and viola
- Group performances
- Solo and ensemble recitals
- Festival concert
- Graduation program
Supplemental program:
- Early childhood education programming
- Fiddle group classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced players
- A variety of workshops, including workshops focused on world music, Indigenous and Metis music, Canadian popular music, and ear training
- Ensemble classes, focused on team building and working collaboratively
- Parent orientation / parent programming / parent classes
- Student-to-student and teacher-to-teacher mentorship programs
- Touring opportunities for students
- Online student and teaching resources, such as videos, games and tutorials
These opportunities, coupled with private lessons, reflect the Suzuki teaching philosophy and provide a nurturing environment that emphasizes cooperation, encouragement, listening, daily practice, learning with others, parental involvement, and self-expression through music.
